Brigham & Women's Hospital | Shapiro Cardiovascular Center

Boston, MA

Project

This technologically advanced facility provides the most collaborative and comprehensive care available. The Center allowed for consolidation of the hospital's cardiovascular services. It was constructed on a tight site, adjacent to the hospital's main entrance and emergency entrance, requiring close coordination and attention to safety. The below-grade levels connect under the street to existing surgical services, while the elevated walkway connects the building to the hospital's main pedestrian spine. The facility includes16 state-of-the-art operating suites, each able to accommodate next-generation minimally invasive technology, including robotic surgery, image-guided technology, and other advanced technologies. It also includes 40 intensive care unit rooms and 96 routine inpatient rooms, all private with private bathrooms and sleep-in accommodations for family members.
