Project Fact

Back in the 1640s, there was a gun battery on the wharf, one of two built to protect the Colonial town from an attack by sea. Over the years, candy-making thrived on the port's cargoes of molasses and sugar, and the "penny ferries" from East Boston docked. Through all the changes in its use, and throughout the city, it kept the name Battery Wharf, recalling its earliest homeland security use.

Project

Leggat McCall Properties acted as project manager for the permitting, design and construction of this new property on Boston'€™s waterfront in the North End. Key design challenges included marine issues associated with 2 levels of underground waterfront parking, and the planning, strategy and integration of multiple uses in a multi-building plan. The final retail phases were completed while the residences were occupied, and construction had to accommodate 24/7 residential occupancy.
