Novartis' new Cambridge campus includes collaborative research space, a full auditorium, specialized lab support, NMRs, a robotic drug analyzer, a high performance curtain wall, and a 3 MW trigeneration plant. In addition to lab space, the project also includes below grade parking, street level retail along Massachusetts Avenue, and a 1.5 acre green space.
This project had unique challenges because of the need to dig a utility tunnel under Massachusetts Avenue and to build enough flexibility to accommodate an evolving program and changes in technology. The new campus was designed by Maya Lin Studio, Toshiko Mori Architect, and Cannon Design. The project will achieve LEED Gold.
